The WarRoom-Warring over the Word

As we begin our War Room prayer/fast I wanted to share this encouragement with you.

In the Book of Matthew, we find John the Baptist preparing the way for the coming of the Lord. As he is calling the people to repent and be baptized, Jesus arrives. And in obedience to fulfill the scriptures, He asks John to baptize him as well.

"...And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him,[b] and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” - Matthew 3:16-17

Immediately afterward scripture tells us that Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness (Matthew 4:1)

The enemy wasted no time in tempting and testing the Lord. The temptations start with these words: "IF you are the Son of God..." (vv. 3,6) Isn't it interesting that the very first thing the enemy attacks is the 'sonship' of Jesus? Is it surprising then that he would attack your 'sonship'? The enemy knows full well the authority, love and power we have as sons and daughters of God and will stop at nothing to keep us from walking in that knowledge and love and authority. So, Do not be surprised when the enemy comes to 'test' the Word spoken over your life. For the Word itself is contrary to the darkness that rules this world. The Promise and Purpose spoken, by its very nature, will cause opposition. For the Kingdom of God suffereth violence and the violent take it by force. But we must remain steadfast in HIS LOVE and in our IDENTITY as beloved children of God, knowing that our Good Father is Sovereign and He has a plan a purpose and a good end for us.

Notice though, that John called for repentance and baptism as he paved the way. Repentance must comes first. Repentance is necessary so that we, like Jesus can say, "Stay thee behind me satan for you have NO "THING" in me!

Prayer:

Father we come before You today and ask for your forgiveness. Search us O God and see if there is any 'thing' that displeases you. We repent Father so that the enemy will have no foothold on which to 'stand'. And now Father we come in agreement with Your Word. In agreement with what you say of us...that we are Your child and we are already accepted in the Beloved. Give us Your enabling Grace and make a way of escape out of those things which would tempt us today to doubt You and Your love for us. Shut the mouth of the accuser and grant us ears to hear Your Voice. Train our hands for battle, Lord and our fingers to war. Be Strong in our weakness and Help us Lord to be strong in You. Rooted and grounded in Your Love for us that heals us and delivers us and sets us free. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen. WarRoom #First21 Journal Entry Day One
